Getting to Tbilisi by Plane

The easiest way to reach the capital of Georgia from around the world is by air. Tbilisi is served by two international airports, including Kutaisi International Airport, and offers direct flights from numerous destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Georgia’s national airline, Georgian Airways, operates regular flights, along with many international carriers such as Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Wizz Air, and flydubai. Direct flights are available from major European cities like London, Paris, and Istanbul, as well as regional hubs such as Dubai and Doha.

 

Tbilisi International Airport (TBS)

Located about 17 km from the city center, Tbilisi International Airport is the main gateway to Georgia. To reach the city, you can take:

  • Bus: Route 37 runs between the airport and the city center.
  • Taxi: Official airport taxis (like Bolt or Yandex).
  • Car rental: Several agencies operate at the airport.
 
Kutaisi International Airport (KUT)

Situated 220 km west of Tbilisi, Kutaisi Airport primarily serves budget airlines like Wizz Air. To get to Tbilisi from Kutaisi, you can take:

  • Shuttle bus: Companies like Georgian Bus or Omnibus offer transfers to Tbilisi (3.5-hour ride).
  • Train: A slower but scenic option (around 5 hours).
  • Taxi or A private transfer 

 

By Train

Tbilisi is well-connected by rail to neighboring countries. The main train stations are:

  • Tbilisi Central Station – The primary hub for domestic and international trains, including routes from Baku (Azerbaijan) and Yerevan (Armenia).
  • Tbilisi Didube Station – Mainly serves local and regional transport.

Train tickets can be purchased at the station or online via the Georgian Railway website.
